20 Years ago
7 out of 10 Wells County residents identified as “religious.” Many identified as Christians, others as Catholics, and a relatively small group of people identified as religiously affiliated with a different religion altogether. 3 out of 10, though, identified themselves as “not religious.”Today, things look vastly different.
The Problem
Today, 56% of Wells County residents identify themselves as “not religious.” In a mere twenty years, the religious landscape of our community has been completely transformed. And this hasn’t resulted in much good. People in Wells County are at a higher risk of suffering from anxiety and depression in comparison to the rest of the country. 20% of marriages in Wells County are experiencing stressors that lead to divorce. And if these trends continue, more and more people will live apart from Jesus and the abundant life He offers.
The Solution
This trend doesn’t have to continue. God has called us to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth – to make disciples right where we are. In this community. We believe God has given us a focus for today and into the future:to build thriving homes and thriving spheres. We believe that as we begin to thrive in every area of our lives, God will use this to create a ripple effect in our community. Hundreds of people will surrender to Christ for the first time and hundreds of others will re-capture their love for Jesus that they had neglected.
